Tony's Chocolonely is a pioneering chocolate company on a mission to make 100% slave free chocolate the norm. With a strong focus on ethical practices and a unique, transparent supply chain, they are dedicated to revolutionising the way the chocolate industry operates.

In a hybrid workshop Limelights worked together with Tony's global e-commerce team for developing a strategy that is paving the way for a better digital presence. The 2-day workshop focussed on the Playing to Win methodology: a strategic framework emphasising winning market choices, competitive advantage, core capabilities, management systems, and performance metrics.

Developing an e-commerce strategy

In order to achieve their goal, the e-commerce team has to expand rapidly and streamline their digital presence across channels. To complement their brick-and-mortar presence, they needed an e-commerce strategy that would help them reach new customers, spread the word about their cause, and distribute their products more widely. However, crafting an e-commerce strategy that would overcome the complexities and challenges faced in the chocolate industry wasn't an easy task. This is where the partnership with Limelights began.

The solution: a tailored hybrid workshop

To address these challenges, Limelights designed a tailored 2-day Hybrid Workshop based on the "Playing to Win" methodology, a proven strategic approach from the book How Strategy Really Works by Lafley and Martin. This immersive workshop experience combined in-person and virtual sessions, allowing Tony's Chocolonely's team to collaborate effectively and efficiently. Together, we identified key pain points in the industry, developed innovative solutions, and set ambitious goals for their e-commerce strategy.

The strategy workshop took place at the Miro Experience Center in Amsterdam enabling the team to work seamlessly together with colleagues spread across the globe.
